Faith Evans - 90s Artist of The Week‏

Like so many of the greats our artist of the week started off as a backing singer and songwriter for other artists but was soon to take the spotlight herself.  Initially pulled in to provide backing vocals and writing assistance for Mary J. Blige it didn’t take long before Faith Renée Evans was releasing her work. Released in 1995, Faith, was and almost overnight success.  Faith charted four songs from her debut album including two top ten hits in “You Used to Love Me” & “Soon as I Get Home.”  Her debut album would reach as high as #2 on the Billboard R&B Charts.

Faith would go on to have another seven charting singles over the final half of the decade.  She would also another top ten album release which would carry over into the new millennium.  Over the 2000s Faith would release 3 more Top 5 charting albums.  Faith also found time to act as executive producer on the TV One reality series R&B Divas: Atlanta.
