Survivor's Remorse

Lost in the shuffle of being the first television show produced in part by Lebron James is whether or not Survivor's Remorse is any good. The first two episodes have been released and the early reports of the show being an urban Entourage have not been exaggerated. The comparisons are more than just surface. A young man makes it big and has to decide how to deal with fame, money, friends, and family.  Sound familiar? Remorse covers familiar ground with a not-so familiar slant to it.

For those aren't aware, Survivor's Remorse, is the story of Cam Calloway a young basketball player who has finally hit the mother lode with his first huge NBA payday. Along for the ride are his manager-cousin, his wise-cracking sister & uncle, and his super down to earth (too down to earth) mother. The first two episodes do a good job of setting up what's to come and by the end of the second you will feel as if you've known the characters for years.

So is the show any good? In a word, yes. The standout of both episodes was without a doubt RonReaco Lee's Reggie Vaughn, Cam's manager and cousin.  He brings a fast talking no-nonsense attitude to every scene as he attempts to corral all of the "mama we made it" plans of the family.  RonReaco is no stranger to urban audiences and hopefully this starring vehicle will introduce him to a new (and hopefully appreciative) audience.

Check out the first two episodes of Survivor's Remorse on Starz before the new episode airs this Saturday night.
