Hip-Hop Our 90's Artist of the week

The 90’s was a very pivotal time for Hip Hop music. Birthed in the Burroughs of New York it was dominated by New York rappers for much of its early years. The 90’s saw Hip-Hop spread its wings and different sections of the country would dominate the genre for parts of the decade. Over the course of the nineties Hip-Hop would grow a conscience, become a gangsta, show us a new middle of the country, introduce us to shiny suits, and redefine what it meant it be a Hip-Hop superstar. This week we’re going to do something a little different with the 90’s artist of the week.

We’ve curated a playlist of the highlights of the most diverse decade in rap music history. It’s broken in to two parts. This week we will highlights the rugged, raw, rough side of Hip-Hop and in a few weeks we’ll deliver part two focusing on the grooves that kept the decade moving from side to side with their hands in the air. See anything on the list that we missed? Comments or questions? Just want to tell us that our list is crap? Hit us up on twitter or Facebook.
