Luke James

Luke James burst onto the mainstream consciousness waaay back in 2012 with an infectious love song that featured one of the best sustained falsettos in years with "I Want You."  The breakout track earned him a Grammy nomination and an opening slot for Beyonce herself.  Luke James was poised for success with the release of numerous singles and videos over the following two years leading up to the release of his debut self-titled album Luke James.

And while Luke James doesn't quite deliver on the promise of all that hard work (what could?) its a more than acceptable start to a career.  The album seems to suffer from a lack of direction as the songs meander from great to mediocre, but when James is locked in then its easy to see why he is one to watch.  Standout tracks include the aforementioned "I Want You", "Exposé", "Options" featuring Rick Ross, and "Trouble."

Luke James continues to be one to expect great things from and I'm predicting a long career with this just being the start of his journey.

Our Rating: 3/5 Stars
